She (Didn’t Remember My Name) entered at Kent Music Report on 25 February 1974 and peaked at #2. The song peaked at #19 on the Top 100 of 1974.
She (Didn’t Remember My Name) was written by Italian songwriters Enrico Riccardi and Luigi Albertelli. It was originally recorded in 1973, first in Italian and later in English, by Italian pop-rock singer Drupi (Giampiero Anelli).
The song was recorded in English later the same year in South Africa by Osmosis, one of a number of bands internationally to bear that name. The Osmosis (Springbok) version charted in Australia in early 1974.
She (Didn’t Remember My Name) was also recorded in 1973 by French singer Joël Daydé who had a hit in Australia in 1971 with Mamy Blue.
The English lyrics were written by Bill Owen who played ‘Compo’ in the British television series Last Of The Summer Wine. Not only was Bill a well-known actor but he composed lyrics for more than 75 songs, including Marianne, recorded by Cliff Richard.
