“Nights in White Satin” by the Moody Blues was written and composed by Justin Hayward at age 19. He titled the song after a girlfriend gave him a gift of satin bedsheets.
It was first released as a single in 1967 in the UK and USA. It was on its second release in 1972 that it made the charts in Australia.
