Colour My World entered the Kent charts on 18 Feb 1967 and peaked at #10. The song was #88 on the Top 100 of 1967.
‘Colour My World’ was written by Tony Hatch and Jackie Trent.
The recording acknowledged the sound of the later 1960s by featuring a riff played on the sitar.
The song was recorded in New York and Petula was surprised that the drummer, who was the city’s top stickman, appeared to be nervous. She recalled to us: “I looked at him and I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ He said, ‘I don’t know if I can get that London sound.’ I said, ‘What London sound?’ He said, ‘Well, you know, that sound…’ I said, ‘No, I don’t actually.’ I said, ‘Why don’t you just play it? That will be fine.'”
