Born in 1932, the professional career of British singer, actress, and composer, Petula Clark began during World War II as a child entertainer on BBC Radio.
A period of commercial success in the UK, USA and other countries began with the Tony Hatch-composed song Downtown in 1964. It was the first of 15 consecutive Top 40 hits for Petula.
The Hatch and Jackie Trent composition Don’t Give Up (1968) was described by Hatch as a homage to Can’t Take My Eyes off You.
