Wings of an Eagle entered the Kent charts on 6 November 1972 and peaked at #9. The song was #66 on the Top 100 of 1973.

Australian music journalist Ian McFarlane said the song was “brilliant”.
The song is about Reincarnation, according to Morris, an eagle often represented in Aboriginal Dreamtime stories as carrying the soul before it is let go to its next life.
