Georgy Girl entered the Kent charts on 21 January 1967 and was a #1 hit. The song was #7 on the Top 100 of 1967.

The song is on Come the Day which entered the kent album charts on 11 March 1967 and peaked at #7.

In March 1967, The Seekers returned to Australia for a homecoming tour, which included a performance at Music for the People at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in their hometown Melbourne, attended by an estimated audience of 200,000. Guinness Book of World Records listed it as the greatest attendance at a concert in the Southern Hemisphere.

Tom Springfield, who had written I’ll Never Find Another You, composed the music for Georgy Girl and Jim Dale supplied the lyrics.
The song became a hit in early 1967, reaching number one in Australia and number three in the United Kingdom. In the United States, it was the Seekers’ highest charting single, reaching number one on the Cash Box Top 100.

This was featured in the 1966 movie of the same name. Set in London, the film is a comedy/romance starring Lynn Redgrave. The Seekers sang two different sets of lyrics over the credits and the titles of the movie. A different version was recorded and released as the single.
