Can you imagine hearing Russell Morris songs like Wings of an Eagle, Sweet Sweet Love and The Real Thing with the backing of a full orchestra?
Such a show is coming to Melbourne and Sydney this July.
Russell Morris will perform in a grand fusion of the Southern Cross Symphony and a ten-piece band. 65 musicians and singers honouring the remarkable career of an Australian music icon with a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
Speaking to Melbourne’s 3AW this morning, Russell said he always wanted to perform with a large orchestra but never had the support for it… until Clive Palmer attended one of his gigs, bought a couple of CDS, and ended up offering to back a show with an orchestra!
Expertly arranged by Grammy Award nominee, David Hershfelder, the concerts will traverse Russell’s entire career, from his psychedelic rock beginnings to his more recent blues and roots explorations.
In addition to the awe-inspiring music, audiences will be treated to never-before-heard stories, offering a rare and intimate glimpse into the life of the man behind the hits.
Show 1: Sunday 2 July at the Sydney Opera House
Show 2: Tuesday 4 July in Hamer Hall at the Arts Centre, Melbourne
Tickets go on sale this Friday (21 April) via the Sydney Opera House and Arts Centre Melbourne websites.
Meanwhile, Russell’s latest album The Dreams Of Jack Chrome is available to play or download from all the main music services, like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes and YouTube.
