Wikipedia:
My Coo Ca Choo was written, sung and recorded by Peter Shelley, using the glam rock name ‘Alvin Stardust’ – a reference to David Bowie’s ‘Ziggy Stardust’ character.
Shelley however had no desire to become his own stage name creation, so Bernard Jewry became ‘Alvin Stardust’ from then on, lip-synching to Shelley’s vocals for TV performances. All further ‘Alvin Stardust’ records were sung by Jewry, including the follow-up hit Jealous Mind.
Bernard Jewry also performed under the name ‘Shane Fenton’.
