Daydream Believer entered the Kent charts on 9 December 1967 and peaked at #2. The song was #21 on the Top 100 of 1968.

The song is on The Birds, The Bees and the Monkees which entered the Kent album charts on 14 September 1968 and peaked at #5.

Daydream Believer was composed by American songwriter John Stewart, shortly before he left the Kingston Trio. It was originally recorded by the Monkees, with Davy Jones singing the lead.
John Stewart recalled: “I remember going to bed thinking, ‘What a wasted day — all I’ve done is daydream’. And from there I wrote the whole song.”
