With the release of Cosmo’s Factory in July 1970, Creedence Clearwater Revival hit their commercial zenith. It was their fifth album in two years and became an international success, topping the album charts in six countries.
Run Through the Jungle: The song’s title and lyrics, as well as the year it was released (1970), have led many to assume that the song is about the Vietnam War. However, in a 2016 interview, John Fogerty explained that the song is actually about the proliferation of guns in the United States.
Long as I Can See the Light: John Fogerty stated that the song is “about the loner in me. Wanting to feel understood, needing those at home to shine a light so that I can make my way back.”
Ramble Tamble: The Southern rock song begins and ends with rockabilly elements, and contains a psychedelic rock breakdown lasting four minutes. In 1970, John Fogerty said that Ramble Tamble developed from “a lot of things”, including elements of the original version of Commotion from Green River.
