We have always loved George Harrison’s song Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth) and now here is a new reason to enjoy this song all over again.
A brand-new official music video for George’s classic 1973 single has just been released, more than 50 years after the song first topped the charts. It marks the first ever music video for the track and was directed by actor, musician and filmmaker Finn Wolfhard, best known for Stranger Things.
The video uses handcrafted stop-motion animation created by a team of around 20 artists from Toronto-based Nobody Told Me Studios and Tye Down Pictures (see the behind-the-scenes making-of video below the official video). Set largely in the gardens of George’s Friar Park estate, the visuals pay tribute to his love of nature, featuring symbolic, tactile imagery that reflects the song’s message of peace and spiritual calm.
Executive produced by Dhani Harrison and David Zonshine, the video has been praised by Harrison’s son for bringing the late Beatle’s work to a new generation with warmth and creativity.
“Finn is one of the sweetest and most talented people I know of his generation, and he is the perfect person to direct a video for my dad,” Dhani said. “My dad would have loved this, and I hope his wonderful, creative, heartfelt ideas help this song reach another generation. Great job, Finn — we love you.”
