Wikipedia – Heart of Glass:
Debbie Harry told The Guardian, “At first, the song kept saying: ‘Once I had a love, it was a gas. Soon turned out, it was a pain in the ass.’ We couldn’t keep saying that [because of radio concerns], so we came up with: ‘Soon turned out, had a heart of glass.’ We kept one ‘pain in the ass’ in.”
The production of Heart of Glass was built around the use of a Roland CR-78 drum machine, which was new at the time. The sound of the drum machine was combined with the sound of actual drumming, reflecting the hybrid nature of the song.
The song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015 as a recording of “qualitative or historical significance”. In December 2004, Rolling Stone ranked the song number 255 on its list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. It was ranked at number 259 when the list was updated in April 2010 and at number 138 in their 2021 update.

Wikipedia – Blondie formation:
In the late 1960s, Harry began her musical career as a backing singer for the folk rock group The Wind in the Willows. In 1973, she joined The Stilettos with Elda Gentile and Amanda Jones. Shortly thereafter, the band added guitarist Chris Stein, who became her boyfriend.
In 1974 Harry and Stein left the Stilettos (along with the band’s bassist and drummer) and formed Angel and the Snake with Tish Bellomo and Snooky Bellomo. Shortly thereafter, they changed the name of the band to Blondie, named after the catcall men often directed at Harry after she bleached her hair blonde.

Lyrics:
Once I had a love and it was a gas
Soon turned out had a heart of glass
Seemed like the real thing, only to find
Mucho mistrust, love’s gone behind
