Wikipedia:
Between 1965 and 1967, Normie Rowe was Australia’s most popular male star but his career was cut short when he was drafted for compulsory military service in late 1967. His subsequent tour of duty in Vietnam effectively ended his pop career. Unable to recapture the musical success he enjoyed at his peak in the 1960s, he carved out instead a career in theatre and television.

Pop Archives:
Melbourne singer Normie Rowe became Australia’s top teen idol of the late 60s and the star of Ivan Dayman’s Sunshine label. He had a string of hits in Australia from 1965, recorded four singles in London, toured Britain and America, and even inspired a tribute song, Norman-Normie. After he was conscripted to serve in Vietnam, he re-established himself as a respected performer, especially on stage, starring in such productions as Les Miserables and Annie.

Lyrics:
Hey girl, what can I do with you
When you take this ol’ heart and tear it in two
Is it asking so much for you to be true
I’m an easy going man who takes all that he can
But I tell you
It’s not easy loving you, baby
It’s not easy wanting you so
It’s not easy loving you, baby
But it’s harder, girl, to let you go
Harder, girl, to let you go
