Robie Porter was an Australian country and pop-rock musician, producer and record label owner. Beginning in 1959, he performed under the stage name Rob E.G. and recorded lap steel guitar instrumentals or covers of country-style vocals. From 1970, he ran an independent record label, Sparmac, and produced three LPs for Daddy Cool.
As Rob E.G., Robie had four Top 10 hits in the early 1960s: Si Senor (I Theenk?), Jezebel, 55 Days at Peking and When You’re Not Near.
Robie Porter received the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) at the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours for “service to the music industry as a producer, writer and performer”.
