Born in Melbourne, Mike McClellan began performing in the late 1960s and, in 1972, released his debut album, Mike McClellan. He released 15 singles between 1972 and 1989, the most successful being Song and Dance Man in 1974 and The One I Love in 1980.
Four of Mike’s 11 studio, live and compilation albums charted, with 1974’s Ask Any Dancer, from which came Song and Dance Man, charting the highest.
McClellan hosted a number of television programs, including National Star Quest, Country Road and Mike McClellan’s Country Music. He also wrote commercial jingles for his own and other advertising agencies, and lectured as a music teacher.
