The original single version of Who Listens to the Radio was released in October 1978. Then in 1979, it was reworked and re-recorded as a new lead single from the band’s second studio album, Don’t Throw Stones (1979).
The song was released in the United States and peaked at #45 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1979 and appeared in an episode of WKRP in Cincinnati.
In 1978, The Sports supported UK band Graham Parker and the Rumour on their Australian tour. Parker subsequently helped The Sports get signed to a UK record label.
