Living Next Door to Alice was written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman and originally released by Australian band New World in 1972. The song later became a worldwide hit for British band Smokie.
The song is about a man’s long-standing unrequited and unadmitted love toward Alice, his next door neighbour of 24 years.
