Taking their name from the Marvel comic of the same name, Uncanny X-Men was formed in 1981 in Melbourne, fronted by charismatic lead singer Brian Mannix.
The band was signed by Mushroom Records early in 1982 and released their debut EP Salive One. They toured Australia that year supporting Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
Their career peak came between 1983 and 1987 with ten charting singles and EPs, three albums and a number of awards.
