Wikipedia:
The New Christy Minstrels is a large-ensemble folk music group founded by Randy Sparks in 1961. The group has recorded more than 20 albums and scored several hits, three of them charting in Australia: Green Green, Saturday Night and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
The group helped launch the musical careers of several musicians, including Kenny Rogers, Gene Clark, Kim Carnes, Larry Ramos and Barry McGuire.
Green, Green was written by Barry McGuire and Randy Sparks and became the group’s first hit.
After many changes of members and control over the years, Sparks regained leadership of The New Christy Minstrels and they continue to perform to this day. They are owned and administered by the New Christy Minstrels Foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to preserving the group’s music.
