Australian band Icehouse and Scottish band Simple Minds are together paying tribute to their idol, Marc Bolan of T.Rex fame.
As co-headline acts for series 2 of the 2024 Red Hot Summer Tour next month, they have released their version of the T.Rex classic Get it On (Bang a Gong).
Iva Davies said:
“Icehouse and Simple Minds first met in 1981 when we shared stages in the UK and Australia on each band’s initial foray into international touring.
“I’ve been a huge supporter of Simple Minds as songwriters, recording artists and performers ever since.
“When Jim Kerr suggested we might do a recording together, we found that we were both admirers of David Bowie and Marc Bolan, so doing a version of a song by one of them was a great place to start.
“We settled on Get It On because it has the spirit of what the two bands’ live shows in February 2024 will be like after 40+ years since we were first together.”

RED HOT SUMMER TOUR 2024
Series 2 in February will feature Simple Minds, Icehouse, Noiseworks, Daryl Braithwaite and Bachelor Girl.
Series 3 in February and March will feature Suzi Quatro, Cheap Trick, Jon Stevens, The Angels, Baby Animals, The Screaming Jets and Chocolate Starfish.
