A previously un-heard recording of Jolene by Olivia Newton-John was released posthumously in February 2023.
Some time before her death in August 2022, Olivia teamed up with Dolly Parton to record a duet performance of Dolly’s hit Jolene. The song, written by Dolly, was first recorded by her in 1973 and was covered three years later by Olivia. And now, here they are together.
“I am so excited to be working with Olivia Newton-John, one of my favourites of all time,” Dolly says in the video above.
The single Jolene is from an album released in 2023 on which Olivia sings duets with artists like Michael McDonald, John Travolta, Jon Secada and Barry Gibb. The 17-track album called Just the Two of Us: The Duets Collection, Vol 1 also includes Mariah Carey joining Olivia for Hopelessly Devoted to You, from a television special recorded in Melbourne. A second volume was released five months later.
