The song Limbo Rock, about the then-popular craze of limbo dancing, was written by Kal Mann (under the pseudonym Jan Sheldon) and Billy Strange. An instrumental version was first recorded by The Champs in 1961, then the first vocal version was recorded by Chubby Checker in 1962. Checker followed that in 1963 with a sequel called Let’s Limbo Some More.
