Every little thing is certainly alright about this brand new song from Mark Holden. The one-time teen idol who was on our TV screens in the early days of Countdown is still in very fine voice. As we listened to Every Little Thing here at Bang a Gong HQ, it really warmed our hearts and put smiles on our faces.
Every Little Thing is uplifting and hopeful. It is deeply personal. It’s the first single that much-lauded music legend Mark Holden, now 72, has released in over a decade.
“As the first song from my forthcoming album, this one is especially close to my heart”, Mark said. “Every Little Thing is a prayer song… a reminder that even through life’s toughest moments, there is always hope, and every little thing will be alright.”
Every Little Thing was written with Andy Martin, who also plays the piano on the recording, and the vocal arrangement is by Nilusha Dassenaike, who was also part of the vocal group with the Pinto family: Natasha, Gary and Brad Pinto. Gary said a prayer before the session, and it was one of the best recording experiences of Mark’s life.
The song is the first release from Mark Holden’s forthcoming album Now and Then and Shirley MacLaine, due for release on 28 August. The album features original tracks including Shirley MacLaine, Welcome Home (with Anthony Callea) and Tom Traubert’s Blues (Waltzing Matilda), an emotional tribute to the youngest victim of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack.
Every Little Thing follows last month’s digital release of a Mark Holden back catalogue called Mark Holden – the 70s. Songs like Never Gonna Fall in Love Again, I Wanna Make You My Lady, Last Romance, Reach Out for the One Who Loves You and many more are now available in a new audio collection on streaming platforms.
