My Choice

My Choice: a few ’60s and ’70s favourites from Dawnie

This week’s My Choice selection is from Dawnie Parker of Deniliquin NSW.

The song title is a link if the song is on our web site.
Dawnie’s comments about the songs are in italics.
The songs are in no particular order.

Such a Lovely Way – The Groop
The Groop brings back memories of spending school holidays at my Auntie’s Farm at Diamond Creek. She always had the radio on and the station always played Such a Lovely Way.

Breathe – Pink Floyd – from the album The Dark Side of the Moon
When I was a kid, I was skateboard mad. I used to sit on the front porch with my cassette player and I’d play Pink Floyd as loud as the unit would allow. I would skate up and down Arden St in Kensington for hours on end. I eventually wore the tape out… haha sad day for me.

Run Run Run – Jo Jo Gunne

Eighteen with a Bullet – Pete Wingfield

Tighter and Tighter – Alive and Kicking

Happy Without You – The Strangers

Flower Garden – Nick Lampe

Double Barrel – Dave & Ansell Collins

Oh Me Oh My – Lulu

My Baby’s Gone – Axiom

Wangaratta Wahine – The Captain Matchbox Whoopee Band

Deep Water – Richard Clapton

It Came Out of the Sky – Creedence Clearwater Revival – from the album Willy and the Poor Boys

Tin Soldier – Small Faces

Lucy in the Sky (with Diamonds) – Elton John

Crunchy Granola Suite – Neil Diamond

Get Down and Get With It – Slade
As a kid growing up in a very poor area of Victoria, and being in the city, the kids would meet on a Friday night under the high rise flats in a community hall and dance to any local band that was willing to play. During the breaks, a DJ would pump out Slade, T.Rex and other chart topping tracks.

Seasons of Change – Blackfeather

Rock On – T.Rex

Whole Lotta Love – Led Zeppelin

The Loved One – The Loved Ones

Cracklin’ Rosie – Neil Diamond

Lean On Me – Bill Withers

Kiss and Say Goodbye – The Manhattans

Mississippi – Pussycat

Daddy Cool – Boney M

Go All the Way – The Raspberries

Blockbuster – Sweet

Jump Into the Fire – Nilsson

What Can I Say – Boz Scaggs
