Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Benajmin Hugg released three singles and two albums, with the 1974 single Thank God You’re Here With Me and album Early One Morning (on Astor) being his biggest sellers.
Thank God You’re Here With Me was written British-born Australian singer and songwriter Buddy England (The Mixtures, The Seekers) who also produced the album. Radio airplay and appearances on Countdown helped gain single and album sales.
Hugg won ‘Best New Talent’ at the King of Pop Awards in 1974.
Following his earlier folk sound, Hugg re-appeared two years later on a different label (Wizard) with the rocked-up single What’s Been Happening? and album of the same name.
Sadly, Benjamin died of cancer in 1991.
