The Shape of Things to Come was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil for the film Wild in the Streets, in which it was performed by a fictional band ‘Max Frost and the Troopers’. It was on their 1968 album Shape of Things to Come, featuring a lead vocal by Harley Hatcher.
Many other versions followed, including one by Slade.
