There’s a Kind of Hush was written by Les Reed and Geoff Stephens, and was originally recorded in 1967 by Stephens’ group the New Vaudeville Band. Almost simultaneously, it was covered by Herman’s Hermits. The New Vaudeville Band version had moderate success in Australia and South Africa, whereas that by Herman’s Hermits had widespread international success.
