Wikpedia:
Scottish singer-songwriter and folk-rock musician Al Stewart wrote Time Passages with Peter White; it was the title track to Al’s eighth studio album, released in 1978. The single was a solid follow-up to Al’s successful 1977 hit, Year of the Cat.
The song describes the singer’s nostalgic memories of the past as he plans a December trip home for Christmas. The familiar final line to the chorus is, “Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight”.

Lyrics:
It was late in December, the sky turned to snow
All round the day was going down slow
Night like a river beginning to flow
I felt the beat of my mind go
Drifting into time passages
Years go falling in the fading light
Time passages
Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight
