Songfacts:
Valleri was written and first recorded in the middle of 1966, as songs were being cranked out for The Monkees TV series, set to debut in September. Don Kirshner was the musical supervisor of the show, and he needed two songs for every weekly episode. He particularly wanted songs with girls’ names, and Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart wrote Valleri.
In late December 1967, Boyce and Hart returned to record a new version with The Monkees, which was released as a single in March 1968, 13 months after it was first performed on the TV show.

Lyrics:
There’s a girl I know
Who makes me feel so good
And I wouldn’t live without her
Even if I could
They call her Valleri
I love her, Valleri
