Wikipedia:
Australian singer-songwriter Doug Ashdown’s 1976 song Winter in America was originally titled Leave Love Enough Alone when first released in 1974, but it failed to become a hit. The 1976 release was a hit in Australia and The Netherlands.
Doug wrote the song with Jimmy Stewart during a cold Nashville winter. The lyrics describe a man whose partner left him for another. He expresses his heartache and sadness, though also hopes she’s happier with him.

Lyrics:
The harbour′s misty in the morning, love
Oh how I miss December
The frangipani opens up to kiss the salty air
I know you’re getting ready for the office
I suppose he′s still there with you, sharing our morning sun
Winter in America is cold and I just keep growing older
I wish that I had known enough of love to leave love enough alone
