Wikipedia:
You was first recorded by writer Tom Snow on his 1975 Taking It All in Stride LP.
The song was Marcia Hines’ highest charting single but it was nearly kept from her, as Robie Porter, the producer, had put the song onto his “don’t use” pile. Mark Kennedy – her backing band’s drummer – saw the sheet music in the studio and began arguing the song’s worth to Porter. Porter subsequently changed his mind about the song.
Hines’ version of You was not released in North America, and the following year it was covered in the US by Rita Coolidge.

Lyrics:
Oh, I, I can′t remember when I felt this high
Must be something special about
The way you’re loving me tonight
You know that-a I
I can′t remember when I felt this right
Loving you the way I do
Has made me feel like a shooting star,
Shining bright and shining far
And I wonder how I ever got along
