My Choice

My Choice: Barney’s diverse 60s and 70s music memories

This week’s My Choice selection is from Barney Fyfe of Melbourne.

The song title is a link if the song is on our web site.
Barney’s comments about the songs are in italics.
The songs are in no particular order.

Barney says:
Ever since the age of about seven, pop music has been a part of my life, being a little brother in a family of seven kids. Needless to say, the Beatles and other great bands danced around in my conscience and remain a major influence on my life.

My submissions are two-fold. Much loved album tracks and singles that evoke great memories for me. I’m trying to steer away from mainstream music but still give a nod to absolute classic recordings, such as the brilliant “Whiter Shade of Pale”.

I have had an AM transistor radio welded to my ear pretty much for the last 60 years and am grateful for living through a period of time that cannot ever be repeated. This selection of music is only a snapshot, a long, long way from what music l love, and will continue to love, as long as l am thieving air.
