Carry Me: THE SEEKERS

At the State Memorial for Judith Durham after her death in 2022, her Seekers’ friends Athol, Keith and Bruce paid heartfelt tributes to her, then played an unheard Seekers recording that was due for release later that year to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

Here is Carry Me, written by Bruce Woodley:

Bruce Woodley wrote Carry Me in 1999 and Judith’s early vocal had been in the Seekers vault until the song was completed when Bruce, Keith and Athol added their vocals and instrumentation.

“This song is now our collective gift to share with you tonight as we celebrate Judith’s magnificent gift to us all,” said the band’s double bass player Athol Guy at the Memorial.

“May it carry her safely on the rest of her journey.”

Lyrics:
So now the bird has flown
Begins the mystery
You’re on your journey home
Your words of wisdom come to me
