68th Grammy Awards: ceremony moments for Joni Mitchell, Cher and Ozzie Osbourne
Canadian music legend Joni Mitchell picked up yet another Grammy Award today, adding to the 11 the singer-songwriter has received previously. Joni won the Best Historical Album category for Joni Mitchell Archives – Volume 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980).
Volume 4 includes the songs Jericho, Coyote, Help Me, Big Yellow Taxi and Woodstock.
Among her many other accolades are inductions into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1981 and into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. In 2008, Mitchell was ranked 42nd on Rolling Stone‘s 100 Greatest Singers list and in 2015 she was ranked ninth on their list of the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time.

Cher made a special appearance at the 2026 Grammy Awards to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award. Cher finally getting a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 68th Grammy Awards felt overdue in the best possible way. After six decades of hit songs, reinventions, risks, and sheer star power, the Grammys basically admitted what everyone already knew: there’s only one Cher. From Sonny & Cher to disco, pop, rock and beyond, she’s never stopped evolving. The tribute celebrated not just her music, but her attitude, influence, and refusal to ever play it safe.

Ozzie Osbourne was honoured during the ceremony. Guns N’ Roses rockers Slash and Duff McKagan were joined by guitarist/producer Andrew Watt, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and singer Post Malone who powered through an emphatic rendition of Black Sabbath’s War Pigs, complete with pyrotechnics and the smashing of instruments at the end.
