Late ‘60s music gems in The Dish

A tremendous Aussie film with a soundtrack of music mostly from the late 1960s was released 25 years ago.

The comedy-drama The Dish, directed by Rob Sitch, was released on 19 October 2000. It is based on the true story of the Parkes Observatory’s role in receiving pictures and data of the 1969 Apollo 11 Moon landing. Starring Sam Neill, Kevin Harrington, Tom Long and Patrick Warburton, it follows a quirky group of scientists who overcame technical and personal challenges, in a celebration of Australian ingenuity and quiet heroism.
