Wikipedia:
The Strangers, based in Melbourne, existed with different line-ups from 1961 to 1975.
At first they worked as a studio band for artists including The Seekers, Frankie Davidson, Johnny Chester, Merv Benton, Little Gulliver and the Children, Pat Farrar and Joy Lemmon.
They signed as a band in their own right with W&G Records in late 1962 and released a string of singles, initially instrumental songs in a style similar to The Shadows. Their biggest hits on the Australian charts included If You Gotta Make a Fool of Somebody (1964), Put Yourself in My Place (1965), Lady Scorpio (1969) and Melanie Makes Me Smile (1970).
The Strangers were also the resident backing band on the Melbourne-based television pop program The Go!! Show, appearing each week from 1964 to 1967.

Lyrics:
Oh yeah, my Melanie makes me smile
And melts away the gray
A little light comes shining
Into my life again
And with my Melanie in my arms
The world′s a warmer place
A little light comes shining
Down upon my face
I feel it, feel it
Shining in my face
