In 2020, Zoot members Beeb Birtles, Rick Springfield and Rick Brewer announced they were reuniting, along with their mate Russell Morris, for a series of special shows in Australia. Russell was going to tour as Zoot’s lead singer in place of his friend, the late Darryl Cotton, who died in 2012.
Sadly, however, the Covid-19 pandemic made it impossible to stage the tour, so it was cancelled.
Beeb, Rick and Russell had written this new song, That Was Then, for the shows and, although they did not get to perform, it was released in June 2022 by Universal Music for fans to enjoy. It features Rick Springfield on lead vocals and Russell Morris on the bridge.
