Songfacts:
Gimme Some Lovin’ was written by the group’s lead singer Steve Winwood, who was just 17 years old at the time. It was one of the first songs he wrote, and the first one that he says wasn’t derivative of something already recorded. The song was written on the fly. In Rolling Stone magazine, bassist Muff Winwood said, “Steve had been singing ‘Gimme some lovin’, just yelling anything. It took about an hour to write, then down the pub for lunch.”
Winwood says they banged it out in the studio in the first or second take.
Spencer Davis was the guitarist in the Spencer Davis Group. He was chosen as the group’s namesake because he was the only one who enjoyed doing interviews!

Lyrics:
Well my temperature’s rising and my feet are on the floor
Twenty people knocking ‘cos they’re wanting some more
Let me in baby, I don’t know what you’ve got
But you’d better take it easy, this place is hot
I’m so glad we made it, I’m so glad we made it
You’ve gotta gimme some lovin’ (gimme some lovin’)
