Nostalgia: JIM LEA

10 March 2026

In the quiet corners of his studio, Jim Lea – the man who once provided the thunderous bass heartbeat for Slade – sat before a piano, a far cry from the stomping boots and mirrored top hats of the seventies. While the world remembered him for the raucous Cum On Feel the Noize, Jim was always the architect of the melody, the classically trained “maestro” hiding behind a wall of distorted bass. He even played electric violin on Coz I Luv You.

In January 2026, Jim finally unveiled Nostalgia, a song that feels less like a rock anthem and more like a cinematic confession. As the orchestral strings began to swell, the music didn’t just play; it breathed. The lyrics painted a vivid picture of a world before the digital blur… a time of “cleaner jokes,” empty pockets, and the “magical thrill” of a Wolverhampton childhood. Jim sang of “faded photographs in suitcases,” capturing that universal ache for a past that feels both reachable and gone forever.

The release was as personal as the song itself. Bypassing massive corporate rollouts, Jim opted for a strictly limited run of 300 CDs for his dedicated Facebook community. It wasn’t about the sales figures; it was about the connection. Yet, the song’s emotional weight couldn’t be contained, quickly climbing to #6 on the Heritage Chart in the UK.

The limited edition CD single, released by Jim Lea Music, contains two tracks: Nostalgia and All I Want is You (first released in 2024).
