Indian Lake was written by Tony Romeo, best known for writing the #1 hit I Think I Love You by The Partridge Family as well as many other hit records, mostly during the 1960s and 1970s. Among them were Oh Boy (The Mood I’m In) by Diana Trask and songs recorded by The Seekers, The Everly Brothers, Richard Harris and David Cassidy, among others.
Indian Lake (1968) was one of eight singles to chart in Australia by The Cowsills, reaching #3 nationally. The Rain, the Park and Other Things (1967) reached #4 and Hair (1969) reached #1.
