Softly Whispering I Love You was written by Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook and originally recorded in 1967 by the duo under the name of David and Jonathan.
It was covered in 1971 by The Congregation whose version was a worldwide hit. The Congregation was a British pop ensemble, formed by Greenaway and Cook. The group’s lead singer was the former Plastic Penny vocalist Brian Keith.
